Audrey loves to sew. Unfortunately, her mother does not. So when a fellow mom from co-op offered to have Audrey over for a sewing day - we jumped at the chance! This sweet lady had three girls and their sewing machines in her home all day. They worked on adorable shirts for themselves and their AG dolls. Audrey had a BALL.
When we got home, Audrey asked if we could move the sewing machine into her room. She can sew better than me at this point - so yes - my machine has a new home. And Audrey is one very happy girl.
Thank you Kristi!

steven curtis chapman
Audrey and I went on a date tonight to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert. Now to be perfectly honest - I would not have called myself a huge fan before tonight. But Audrey really wanted to go, and I really like spending time with her, so off we went. It was an amazing show! (Dad, you would have loved it!) Fun and energetic. Yet full of truth and honesty about some of the really hard things his family has gone through. Above all - it was a night filled with praise and it was precious to share that with my girl.

I really don't want this summer to end. Good friends. Great weather. Wonderful family time. Lots of popsicles. It's been just about perfect...

daddy date
This kid cracks us up every single day. He's hilarious. He's also very good at getting what he wants. He was the first one up this morning...
"Daddy - can you and I go on a date?"
"What did you have in mind buddy?"
"I think we should go get donuts for everyone for breakfast."
"Sounds good to me. Let's go."

peanut butter and jelly
Can I just be honest and say that sometimes marriage is really hard. There are days when we just don't like each other and it feels like we're barely trudging through. Last week we were having a particularly hard day when Ethan provided some comic relief.....
Ethan - Peanut butter, Jelly, I'm ready to get out of the shower now.
He sees me walk into the bathroom.
Ethan - Oh hi jelly.
Me - I'm jelly huh? Since when? And who's peanut butter?
Ethan - Daddy, of course!
Thanks for that reminder little man. I forget sometimes...

dobbs days of summer...
This past weekend was our annual Dobbs Days of Summer (formerly known as Family Camp!). We spent four wonderful days in Lake Chelan and had a ball! We are so blessed to be a part of this family. Thank you Mom and Dad - for putting this weekend on every year and investing time, money and energy in your kids and grandkids. Our relationships will stand the test of time thanks to you.
