...by the reading bug! He was up until the wee hours last night (9pm is late in our house) reading this book. Reading Level 2.8 - but don't tell him that. I love watching my kids develop a love of reading. Summer reading programs - here we come.
I think Patrick and I have a new love language. It's called "time off". Now that Ethan is almost three - the kids are quite manageable for just one of us. So we've been taking advantage of this and giving each other time off. Last weekend I went to Bend, OR to spend time with two of my sisters. (We had a great time, by the way - have I mentioned how much I love my sisters??!!) I already have get-aways planned for June and July. And now Patrick is in Chelan for a couple of days by himself. I surprised him with a spur of the moment "why don't you go play for a couple of days" and he took me up on it. And based on the number of times he has thanked me during our phone conversations - I'd say he's feeling loved right now.
Some girlfriends were reminding me tonight just how big Ethan was as a baby. Honestly, I had forgotten that. So I went and looked at some old pictures. And yes, he was rather large, but oh my goodness - these kids are so stinkin' cute!
I think we are entering a new season in this household. One where all three kids have things they enjoy doing together. And it's wonderful! Ethan loves being able to join in with the big kids.
Painting with watercolors. Jumping into a pile of pillows and pretending it is a lake. (Big kids are playing too - it was just E's turn.) Pretending the stairs are a train and jumping aboard. E is always Mr. Conductor. And lots and lots of outdoor games!
